In 1978, the Yarmouth Local of the NSTU established the John J. Oliver Scholarship in memory of the late John J. Oliver who was a teacher, principal, and a former President of the NSTU.
The bursary in the amount of $1000.00, is presented to a student who plans to further his or her education in a degree program at a recognized post secondary institution in the academic year immediately following his or her graduation.
In its selection, the committee will take into consideration the applicant’s academic record, extracurricular activities, leadership skills, financial need and career path. PREFERENCES will be given to any student who has a parent(s) who is(are) members of the NSTU and/or entering a career in education. The decision of the School’s Selection Committee shall be final.
Application Date is June 15th.
