In 1978, the Yarmouth Local of the NSTU established the John J. Oliver Scholarship in memory of the late John J. Oliver who was a teacher, principal, and a former President of the NSTU.
This is a bursary in the amount of $1000.00 for a student attending YCMHS and $500 for a student of Drumlin Heights Consolidated School who plan to further their education in a degree program at a recognized post secondary institution in the academic year immediately following their graduation.
In its selection, the committee will take into consideration the applicant’s academic record, extracurricular activities, leadership skills, financial need and career path. PREFERENCES will be given to any student who has a parent(s) who is(are) members of the NSTU and/or entering a career in education. The decision of the School’s Selection Committee shall be final.
Application Date is June 15th.
